Through my grandfather Kenneth KANALLEY, I have many ancestors from Canada. Both of his parents, Wallace and Mildred, had roots in Ontario, Canada.
Wallace grew up in Cobourg, Northumberland Co., Ontario and Mildred was born in Kingston, Frontenac Co., Ontario. While most of their ancestors were Irish and came around the time of the Great Potato Famine, Mildred had United Empire Loyalist roots that arrived in Upper Canada (Ontario today) in the late 1700s after the U.S. Revolutionary War. Through those lines, we have some English and Dutch ancestry.
My Canadian ancestors’ surnames include:
BULGER, CALLAHAN, FITZSIMMONS, FLYNN, FRIEL, HART, HARTNEY, KANALLEY, KEALY, KEANE, KENNELLY, KILLEEN, LAKE, McBRIEN, McGUIRE, McQUAID, MOORE, O’NEILL, REILLY, SHORT, SNYDER, TRACY, WALLACE
If any of these surnames or places are of interest, please reach out.
