INTERESTING NOTES: Eric’s full name was “Eric Gottlieb Alexander”, per his baptism record, but the Alexander is not seen in any other references. He was commonly referred to as “Eric G.” in records.
He was a son of immigrants. His father was from West Prussia and his mother East Prussia. Their birthplaces lie in modern-day Poland. His parents died tragically on the same day in 1925.
He was raised as part of the German Evangelical faith and converted to Catholicism around the time of his marriage. His wife came from a very Catholic family.
During the Great Depression, he moved to Binghamton, New York for employment opportunities. His daughter Rita was born there. They returned to Buffalo shortly after she was born.
Eric owned and operated a delicatessen called ROMANE’s with his wife at 2114 Niagara Street in Buffalo. They purchased a cottage in Java Lake, Wyoming County, and spent much of their summers there.
