INTERESTING FACT: After her father died in Germany, she came over to the United States with her mother & siblings. She also had many cousins who had already settled in the U.S., or later did, mostly in the Midwest; Rochester, NY; and NYC, in addition to the Buffalo, NY area where she settled.
She married Jacob WEBER at St. Boniface RC Church in Buffalo, NY. They spent some time in Illinois where their first children were born before returning to Buffalo where their parents & siblings lived. They lived in a neighborhood known as the Fruit Belt, and had a large family home for many years on Jefferson Ave.
Like her husband, and many relatives from the village of Bierbach where they were from, she was a basketmaker. This was an old craft going back generations in the village and is still practiced to some extent today. They brought the skill with them to the United States and had a successful basketmaking business in Western New York. All of their children were trained on how to make baskets.
Catharina became a widow in 1919 and went on to live another 10 years.
