,

Last week I wrote about the holiday surprise for German researchers that Catholic parish records for the Würzburg Diocese started to appear at Matricula Online.

With a bit of luck (only A-G parish records are available so far, as they are posted in alphabetical order), I found my 4th great-grandmother Magdalena (SPAHN) BECKER and her parents. Not even a full week later, and her pedigree has had amazing development – from the blank slate just a few weeks ago to the rather full version below it:

And that was just in a week’s time. Hopefully I’ll be able to fill in the remaining blanks, like some of those maiden names for her 2nd great-grandmothers (5 “Unknown”).

Happy New Year all! 🎉

UPDATE (April 2025): The remaining maiden names have been determined. In order for the listing above: ALTENHÖFER (again), KOENIG, KAU, PFEUFFER, and SCHNEIDER.
