While I was going through old bins of photos from my grandmother, I found this gem. It is labeled on the back “Bond Bread” with the year 1923. Looking at local newspapers from that time, this was an amateur baseball team, sponsored by Bond Bread. My great-grandpa Howard GRUNDTISCH is in the back row, 3rd from the right – the tall guy.
Of course, it was in black & white, and I colorized it with the help of MyHeritage & some Photoshop. Here’s what the original looked like (also awesome):
And amazingly, every person is identified on the back of the photo. My Mom says it is in my great-grandfather’s handwriting. Here is who everyone is:

Obviously some nicknames in there. My great-grandpa did go by “Happy,” apparently due to his constantly pleasant demeanor. I don’t know why his brother Ralph is listed as Mike, but Ralph is etched next to it. Wesley was their nephew, a son of their brother John.
